Knitting day and kni(gh)t..

Some shop news! I've gone crazy over giant knitted bows. My dear friend Alexandra (aka G, aka Michelle, aka Shnee), modelled my big pink giant bow for my etsy shop. She looked too cute in it, so its hers now. But I quickly made a replacement, along with four other colors, soon to be listed soon as I get more elastic! Sorry none of this is well written; I'm writing in a rush.

And coming soon~
This sea-foam vest..
And this mile-long two-toned scarf. Seriously, its about ten feet long.

There's still so much more I haven't gotten around to photographing and listing yet. Hopefully, I'll have a productive weekend in that regard.

And in other news... Could you believe? The things my friends will leave at my house.. This is how I teased them:

A Streetcar Named Desire

I thought my blog could use more than just some pictures for today. Whats new? Well, I have a new favorite play: A Streetcar Named Desire, by Tennessee Williams. I read it, and now I'm eagerly anticipating the movie arriving from Netflix. In the mean time, I've looked up some screenshots to share. I thought the play was unique in that the words spoke for themselves and contained all the emotion it needed. The play doesn't require brilliant performances by gifted actors to be impactful. You can just read it, and feel the intensity.

My favorite part of the whole play, is Blanche's monologue about her late husband. I don't think this is too much of a spoiler, or I wouldn't share it:

"He was a boy, just a boy, when I was a very young girl. When I was sixteen, I made the discovery - love. All at once and much, much too completely. It was like you suddenly turned a blinding light on something that had always been half in shadow, that's how it struck the world for me. But I was unlucky. Deluded. There was something different about the boy, a nervousness, a softness and tenderness which wasn't like a man's, although he wasn't the least bit effeminate looking. Still, that thing was there ...

He came to me for help. I didn't know that. I didn't find out anything till after our marriage when we'd run away and come back and all I knew was I'd failed him in some mysterious way and wasn't able to give the help he needed but couldn't speak of! He was in the quicksands and clutching at me, but I wasn't holding him out, I was slipping in with him! I didn't know that. I didn't know anything except I loved him unendurably but without being able to help him or help myself. Then I found out. In the worst of all possible ways. By coming suddenly into a room that I thought was empty, which wasn't empty, but had two people in it: The boy I had married and an older man who had been his friend for years ...

Afterward we pretended that nothing had been discovered. Yes, the three of us drove out to Moon Lake Casino, very drunk and laughing all the way.

We danced the Varsouviana! Suddenly, in the middle of the dance the boy I had married broke away from me and ran out of the casino. A few moments later -- a shot!

I ran out - all did! All ran and gathered about the terrible thing at the edge of the lake! I couldn't get near for the crowding. Then somebody caught my arm. "Don't go any closer! Come back! You don't want to see!" See? See what! Then I heard voices say, Allan! Allan! The Grey boy! He'd stuck the revolver into his mouth, and fired, so that the back of his head had been - blown away!

It was because, on the dance floor, unable to stop myself, I'd suddenly said, "I SAW! I KNOW! You disgust me ..." And then the searchlight which had been turned on the world was turned off again and never for one moment since has there been any light that's stronger than this kitchen candle. "

Marlon Brando. They don't make them like this anymore.

Drool-worthy cinematography.

Vivien Leigh won an Academy Award for this performance (I think..?) She played Blanche, but is mostly immortalized by her performance of Scarlet in Gone With The Wind.

Deserted Files... Part 2

Once again, here are some wonderful images I found in a folder I'd abandoned from a while ago. Once again, I must sadly admit that I can't link them or give much credit. But lets admire anyway. :)

Enjoy!

As for knitting...

I thought it might be a cute little experiment to see how far and wide my yarn collection has gone. I had noticed that there was a mini-yarn-stash peaking out of every crevice of my house, and I decided to compile it all flat on my rug.

It started out innocent enough:

But then it grew out of control as I dug up all my yarn: the good, the bad, and the ugly:

Now my entire rug is covered, and I don't know if I should be proud or horrified.

In other news, I say on my etsy that all my items are knit in a pet-free, smoke-free home. While thats mostly true, truer still would be to say that my items are knit anywhere and everwhere that I go.

Here I am spotted knitting at a party with my beautiful Russian friend Sophie.

I was working on a simple, but exceedingly long scarf.

Its already seven feet long and showing no signs of slowing down.

My favorite artist..

I thought I'd share some of my favorite works by my favorite artist: Gustav Klimt.

Danae, 1907. The image of Narcissus.
The Friends, 1916-1917.
Hope, 1907-1908
The Three Ages of Women, 1905.
Judith and the Head of Holofernes, 1901

I tried to take pictures of all the Klimt prints I have around my room (11), but that was overboard. Instead, I will show off my awesome Klimt coasters, a gift from my uncle, a souvenier from France. And, another gift, my lovely Klimt mug, holding hot chocolate.

And here, on my wishlist, this gorgeous Klimt locket I found whilst roaming on etsy.

As for Japan, which I think deserves mentioning, what came to mind as I sat in my living room gaping at the news, was, "I read the news today, oh boy."

Deserted files.. Part 1

I was looking around my pictures album, and I found this really old album full of pictures I'd saved off the internet. While I, most regrettably, cannot provide links to these, I thought I'd still share some, as I think they're really remarkable. My guess is they mostly came from tumblr:
I know the second one is a Salvador Dali painting smartly called 'Human Skull Consisting of Seven Naked Women's Bodies.' And I think the first one has something to do with Iggy Pop and the Stooges, though not sure.

An introduction..

Hello all! I'm Jenny. I'm an 18-year-old lover of arts, crafts, vintage, handmade, fashion, film and music. I operate my own etsy shop where I sell handknitted accessories. I'm not a very consistent blogger, and I think the above pictures of myself are borderline excessive. This blog is intended to help me keep track of my shop, my life, and my inspiration.
